The program
Basic Strength is an eight-week entry program for people who are new to structured resistance training or returning after time away. The purpose is not to chase maximal loads. It is to establish sound movement, joint tolerance, coordination and a repeatable training routine that can support later strength and fitness development.
Three full-body sessions per week use accessible gym exercises and conservative progression. The first four weeks focus on learning and controlling the main movement patterns across three working sets. Weeks 5-8 add a fourth set while technique, range and consistency remain the priority.
Who is this program for?
Adults or appropriately supervised older adolescents beginning structured strength training.
People returning to the gym after time away who want a controlled re-entry point.
Users who can complete three full-body sessions each week and prefer a clear written plan.
People who want to establish movement confidence and training consistency before progressing to heavier or more specialised programs.
What will you work on?
Learning the main squat, hinge, push, pull and trunk movement patterns.
Controlled repetitions, appropriate range of motion and conservative load selection.
Gradual increases in training volume without prioritising maximal weight.
Building a routine that can support later general strength, fitness or personalised programming.
How the program progresses
Weeks 1-4: learn and repeat the main movement patterns using three working sets.
Weeks 5-8: add a fourth working set while maintaining control, range and technique.
Across the block: use the starting-load check and editable fields to build consistency rather than competing with previous numbers.
At completion: repeat the assessment and select the next appropriate strength, fitness or coaching pathway.
